Fish versus Djoker

I turned on this match after the first set and saw Mardy look like a centipede in sand. He is not as quick as many of the players on tour including Djokovic. Novak got a break to go up 4 to 2 in the second set and looked like the day was over. Then Mardy broke back immediately and began to rush the net on his serve. The change in tactics seemed to improve Mardys serve some.

The 3rd set started with Novak serving. He got behind love 40 and responded with 3 straight aces, a service winner, and a rally winner. Now Novak is up 3 to 0.

MonoFed in Action

I am sitting here watching Mardy Fish play the Rajah and Roger looks like he is not firing on all cylinders.  He did get a walkover match from Haas so he may have lost some sharpness there.  Fish has had a great tournament and if he can pull this one off it will be his biggest win ever.  Fish is 0 and 5 against Roger lifetime.  I can't credit Mardy with playing great since he is only getting in about 33% of his first serves and that is not good.  I can credit Mardy with being agressive and rushing the net more than a few times on Roger's serve no less.  Mardy won the first set and is now a double break up in the second.  That is not the Roger we are used to.  It's not the Mardy we are used to either.

It's over.  Fish takes it 6-3, 6-2 with only making 34% of his first serves in.  The final will be Mardy Fish versus Novak Djokovic.  Fish will have to play better to beat Novak but maybe it is just his tourney.

Blake the Buzzsaw

It seems like James Blake had had enough of being Richard Gasquet's punching bag. He had never won more than 8 games against him but came out smoking in this one. You could see Gasquet meltdown to slag. Blake was unafraid of Gasquet's backhand since his own groundstrokes were ripping down the line. This Blake would have a chance against anyone (read RF).  Now Blake has to face Nadal.  Anyone know what his record is against Rafa?

Mardy Fish made it a great day for Americans by getting past former two time champion here Lleyton Hewett 7 to 4 in a 3rd set tie break. Its great to see these guys sweating as I look outside at the snowflakes dropping on the ground here in New Hampshire.

LeapYear Day

Leapyear Day

Well, what is the appropriate term for a day that comes just once every four years.
I had to post something today just to know that I did it.

Tennis news: Justine Lost - that is news, kind of like man bites dog.

Lindsay won - 'go get 'em mom'

Happy Birthday Jelena

Nalbandian is still rolling with a nine match win streak and into the semis in Acapulco.
Just how good is this guy? Can he stay healthy enough to knock Rog off the top?

Roddick beats Fish - what's this I hear about these guys having been on the same High
school team?

Any one know how to pronounce Ljubicic? Is the L or the J silent?

Should we say 'Happy leapyear day', 'Merry leapyear day', or 'take a leapyear day'?
